Sustainable tourism in mountain areas

Euromontana members are very sensitive to preserving mountains’ potential for the tourism economy. Members of the association therefore held discussions on mountain tourism at its 2011 General Assembly, with a view to defining a common position for the future of the sector.

This position paper includes:

• A state of play on mountain tourism, the challenges facing the sector and future opportunities
• Recommendations for European, national and regional policymakers on how to support sustainable tourism, including through actions for harmonised labelling and efforts on associated drivers like digitalisation, mobility and social innovation.
