Common Agriculture Policy 2021-2027

Euromontana's position for the post-2020 Common Agriculture Policy
The European Commission launched in February 2017 a public consultation on “Modernising and Simplifying the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)”, amid difficult budget discussions for the European Union.
The Common Agricultural Policy is a key policy for supporting mountain farming. This April 2017 position paper sets out Euromontana’s position and recommendations for the post-2020 CAP.
Find in this position paper specific recommendations on how the post-2020 CAP should:
- Maintain the capacity to produce economically, environmentally, socially sustainable foods that ensure stable and sufficient income to farmers.
- Recognise and value the provision of public goods and ecosystem services related to farming activities.
- Ensure balanced territorial development and enhance the development of rural areas, especially mountain territories threatened by depopulation.
