ESIRA webinar – Breaking the cycle of rural decline

ESIRA webinar – Breaking the cycle of rural decline

29 April 2025
Online

Join the first policy event of the ESIRA project on 29th April 2025!

The webinar will provide evidence-based perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in rural areas, more specifically on the cycle of decline driven by job shortages, limited access to essential services, and outmigration, particularly among young people. This trend weakens local economies, accelerates population ageing, and threatens the sustainability of rural areas. The social economy presents a viable alternative for rural revitalization by fostering local empowerment, job creation, tailored community services, and social cohesion.

The event will feature discussions on rural vulnerabilities, successful social economy initiatives, policy barriers, and future policy directions, bringing together key stakeholders to shape actionable solutions for the sustainable development of rural communities.
